Starting Dec. 9, United Airlines will have three flights a day between Chicago’s O’Hare Field and the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport, it was announced today.
The daily service comes six years after United stopped flying to Kalamazoo, according to a press release from the Kalamazoo airport.
The service will be provided by United Express, using a 50-seat regional jet.
Daily flights are scheduled to depart Kalamazoo at 6:50 a.m., 2:52 and 6:22 p.m., with departures from Chicago at 12:20, 3:50 and 8:50 p.m. six days a week, according to current plans. On Saturdays, there will be no 6:22 p.m. departure and the arrival will be 7:10 p.m. instead of 8:50, according to the press release.
“AZO continues its aggressive work with current and potential carriers to grow this airport,” said David Reid, airport director, said in the press release “This is a great step in that effort by increasing the number of seats departing Kalamazoo, giving business and leisure customers greater flexibility traveling to/from the AZO/BTL region.”
Kalamazoo is currently served by Delta, which flies to Detroit and Minneapolis, and American, which flies to Chicago.
